5 Curb appeal boosts to sell your home fast

There are many ways you can do to sell your home fast, but it would be futile if your home’s curb appeal isn’t grabbing the attention of prospective home buyers.

Here are five ways you can improve your home’s curb appeal and make sure it won’t say in the market for a long period of time.

Before you proceed, do this first! One of the best ways to identify areas you can improve is to imagine yourself as a buyer and drive by your property. Take note of the following:

  • Your first impression of the property
  • Things you liked about it
  • Things you didn’t like about it
  • What you would do to improve the property

Take photos of the lot, both in colored and black-and-white. The latter will enable you to see problems that are often masked by color.

Now that you know what you want to improve, it’s time to get to work.

  1. Clean the entire exterior of the property
There are several things you can do. Got a dirty drive- and walkway? Pressure-wash these areas. Wipe down windows and cutters. Trim overgrown bushes, branches, and hedges. Mow the lawn. Plants in broken pots must be repotted. Remove weeds, get rid of dried leaves, and other debris scattered around. Check the roof and see if it needs some TLC. Don’t forget to give your backyard some love, too.
  2. Install attractive lighting
The nighttime lends a different look to your property. Enhance its evening appeal by installing outdoor lighting. Add light fixtures to your front porch. You can also find some low-voltage string lighting to shine the spotlight on pretty landscaping elements.

Lights streaming front the windows also have an impact on a home’s nighttime curb appeal. Make sure your indoor lighting complements the home’s exterior appearance.

  3. Add some greenery
Landscaping packs quite a punch when it comes to curb appeal. Consider planting native Central Valley blooms in your front and back yards. Old-growth trees add value to a home, but if a tree is blocking an important element of the property, trim it down. It will show more of your home and help keep the tree healthy, too.

  4. Give the house a fresh coat of paint
A simple way to update your house’s exterior is to give it a fresh coat of paint. Doing so would make it look as if brand new. You can stick to the same color or give the house a dramatic change by painting it a different hue. Here’s how you can pick the right color for the exterior paint.

  5. Create a welcoming entryway
Do so by installing a new door or refinishing and repainting the one you currently have. You can also choose to replace the hardware or re-polish them instead to give them shine once work. Add potted plants and a rug ready to welcome prospective home buyers or, should we say, potential new homeowners?
